Dorothy and Don's Dreams
Dreams of A Cancer-Free World
Home

What started as merely participation in the yearly American Cancer Society Relay for Life has evolved into a mission:

DREAM - HOPE - WORK

Dorothy and Don's Dreams

Our children are Dorothy and Don's Dreams.

Dorothy Natkin fought breast cancer at a time when the disease was still little-understood, when diagnosis and treatment were still in their infancy.  Dorothy joined others being treated at the birth of Einstein Medical Center's oncology department, with the hope and dream that their contributions would better treatment options and boost the survival rate of those who'd come after them.

Don Smith fought a quiet, hard battle with prostate cancer. His illness was not accurately diagnosed until it had reached an advanced state.  His struggle serves as a stark reminder of the importance of early detection and treatment.

We formed this group in memory of Dorothy and Don.  We work in memory of Helene and Carl, in honor of Earl, Gladys, Louis, and Fred.  We work in honor of Karen, Jason, Peggy, and Nancy, who walked the path beside them as caregivers.

We work to honor and remember my friends who fought cancer, and those whose family fought.  In Honor of Faye. In Memory of Mabel Beard, Derrick, Carrie, and all those who have lost their fight with cancer.

We DREAM of a cancer-free world.
We HOPE to see an end to cancer in our lifetime.
We WORK to see our dreams and hopes become reality.

We work in hopes that our children shall never need to know the pain that Cancer inflicts upon families.

We work in hopes that -- someday -- the world will be free of this terrible affliction.
